Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

This is the Photo of the Day for October 31st from TIA’s Project “2014 : 365”, my personally assigned photography challenge of the year.  The challenge is to capture one image each day of the year of subject matter I typically would not photography. To date, I have only missed one day, and that was back in January!

No Facebook Needed (a.k.a. Life without Facebook)

October 29, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Life without Facebook For a second, after seeing that subtitle, I wonder how many eyes could possibly burst from their sockets upon such a notion. It’s not an impossible feat, but probably one that many wouldn’t try or dare to entertain. I’m hoping to do so, primarily with my official Facebook business page (or “fan page”, or whatever it’s actually called), and inevitably, my personal page. There’s something painfully mind-numbing about sitting down in front of my computer, going online, clicking onto a […]

A (Somewhat) Comedic Conflict of Cultures above Kuala Lumpur

August 30, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Kuala Lumpur. Christmas Eve. Horrendously hot. Morosely muggy. Extremely engrossing and exciting. During my time in KL*, I remember carrying a handkerchief in my pocket to serve two purposes: either to wipe the sweat from my brow, or defog my eyeglasses given all the moisture in the air. In this heavily humid atmosphere, my camera gear seemed to weigh twice as much as it typically did, but that was part of the adventure, and I knew it would be that […]

Timelapsin’ 2009 to 2014

August 26, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

After plenty of research and a few experiments, I have put together my first “real” time-lapse video. I recently purchased a wireless intervalometer and have been experimenting with some time-lapse photography! I call it the “first real time-lapse” because I discovered in my research that I was not compiling the exposures properly in previous videos! What you will see in this very brief article are five videos.  Three of them of time are actual time-lapse videos, one video is a […]

Feature Photographer Interview: Richard Heersmink

August 6, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Greetings everyone! After a long hiatus, TIA International Photography is excited to recommence the Feature Photographer interview series with Richard Heersmink, a remarkable photographer currently based in my favorite city for photography — Sydney, Australia! Before we get into the heart of interview, I always enjoy the opportunity to say a few words about the featured photographer so we can establish a familiarity for the authentic personality and character of the individual.  (It’s also a sophisticated way for me to provide  the […]

The City & The Music Video, Part I

July 25, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

By now, I hope I have established that I’m thoroughly enamored with our world’s biggest (and not so big) metropolises.  I am crazy about them.  Cities are like people.  They have personalities, attitudes, cultures, and a way of life that differs from others — just like people.  Chicago has an essence and personality that is dissimilar to Cape Town’s, or Mumbai’s, or Perth’s.  The common reality of the populace of Rome is not necessarily shared with the realities of people […]

Hooray for Hollywood?

July 20, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

As a professional photographer headquartered in Seattle, I always enjoy learning the locations from where new customers and potential clients contact TIA, and which images they are interested in licensing. For example, I am currently dealing with (or patiently waiting for, rather) an architecture firm in London for its final decision on which TIA aerial images of San Francisco it would like to license for an upcoming proposal it wishes to draft regarding a new skyscraper it plans to build […]

“State of Independence”

July 5, 2014 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Hello, everyone!  I hope you have all been having an excellent summer (or winter!) in your respective parts of the planet.  I have been away for quite some time, but I plan to make the effort to be around much more frequently since I have recently detoxified and purged some long-term poisons in my professional and personal life! In the meantime, please enjoy a short time-lapse video of the US’ Independence Day celebrations observed here in Seattle last night. This […]

Feature Photographer Interview: Jörn Braasch

October 27, 2013 by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Greetings everyone!  Welcome to TIA’s latest Feature Photographer interview with Jörn Braasch of Anek-Artwork, an extremely talented photographer based in Hamburg, Germany.  Not only is Jörn a very skilled night-time, urban landscape photographer, he is a very creative media designer with a specialization in animation and time-lapse photography.  I discovered Jörn’s work via Flickr about four years ago and have been a tremendous fan ever since.  Over the years, we have kept in touch, either discussing our latest projects and […]
